With secret shopping, there are other types of work that fall under the umbrelled name, "secret shoping," but are not actually secret shopping assignments. One of the other things is merchandising.  Merchandising is normally easy, pleasant work. And, reports for merchandising are usually 2-3 minute reports with only a handful of yes/no questions. Some examples of merchandising would be going to a Walmart or Target and counting how many CDs are on the floor under a certain title, or taking prepaid phone cards to a grocery store and hanging them on the hooks by checkout stands. 

Certified Reports Inc. (CRI) is a secret shopping company that proportiantely has a significant amount of merchandising work. They also list their assignments on their site.  Some assignments are self-assigning and others require requesting the assignment.  I've done a lot of work for CRI.  Overtime, I came to enjoy merchandising over secret shopping.  It does not pay quite as high as secret shopping. But, the super easy, super quick reports, and pleasant assignments fit me.   Merchandising can be done while secret shopping.
